Douglas PUD Commission Meeting Report

Douglas County PUD Commissioners Jim Davis and Lynn Heminger executed the following actions during the August 20, 2012 Commission meeting held at the District’s East Wenatchee Headquarters office:

Approved signal transport agreement with Turner Network Sales, Inc.   These agreements are required by most networks to receive and transport the signal over the Douglas County Community Network. (12-137)

Authorized the funding request of North Central Educational Service District (NCESD) in the amount of $26,576.97 for the 2012-2013 school year.  In effect since 1988, agreements between Douglas PUD and NCESD have been established to provide educational curriculum for every kindergarten through fifth grade student in Douglas County.  Classes pertain to electrical generation, electric distribution, conservation, safety and wise use of water resources. Approved use of restoration funds by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife for the Wells Wildlife Area. Wildfire burned approximately 1,709 acres, nearly 90% of the Central Ferry Canyon unit of the Wells Wildlife Area. As part of the Off-License Settlement Agreement, Douglas PUD agrees to restore habitat damaged by fire on the Wells Wildlife Area in the amount not to exceed $50,000. (12-139)

Authorized an agreement for Professional Services with PBS Environmental for environmental monitoring services. PBS Environmental monitors air quality adjacent to projects such as asbestos removal. The cost of this work shall not exceed $50,000 and expires August 31, 2014. (12-140)

Approved a call for bids under bid document 12-12-W, 2012-2013 heavy equipment services. The District periodically requires heavy equipment services to perform scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency work at various locations of the Wells Hydroelectric Project. (12-141)

Approved a call for bids under bid document 12-16-W, Expansion of Douglas Switchyard. Necessary to accommodate the new 230kV Douglas to Rapids transmission line.(12-142)

Approved a call for bids under bid document 12-21-W, 2012-2013 hatchery well and pump maintenance. Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work needs to be performed in a timely manner and by a qualified contractor. (12-143)

The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. August 27, 2012 at the District’s East Wenatchee Headquarters office.
