Douglas County PUD Commissioners Jim Davis, Lynn Heminger and Ron Skagen executed the following actions during the September 14, 2009 Commission meeting held at the Wells Hydroelectric Project:
Approved the funding request of North Central Educational Service District (NCESD) in the amount of $20,291.51 for the 2009-20010 school year. In effect since 1988, agreements between Douglas PUD and NCESD have been established to provide educational curriculum for every kindergarten through ninth grade student in Douglas County. Classes pertain to electrical generation, electric distribution, conservation, safety and wise use of water resources. (09-194)
Authorized updating policies for District use of personal cell phones and management tool allowance. (09-195)
Awarded G.G. Richardson of Wenatchee, contract 09-21-W, Badger Mountain communications building. G.G. Richardson, with a bid price of $232,800, was the lowest responsive bidder. (09-196)
Approved funding of the 2004 Reserve Account with cash. This will provide strength to the surety bond despite the insurance companies declining credit rating. (09-197)

Acting as the board of the Electric Utility Rural Economic Development Fund, awarded the following grants:
Do. Co. Fire Dist. 1 Pagers with Chargers $7,500
City of Bridgeport Irrigation Moisture Sensors $800
Do. Co. Fire Dist. 3 Equipment for Water Tender $10,000
Do. Co. Fire Dist. 5 Structural Turn-out Gear/ Upgrade Radios $8,700
Do. Co. Fire Dist. 15 New Roof for Rocky Butte Station $18,000
Do. Co. Hospital Dist. 2 Radio Repeater $5,000
Total $ 50,000
Held the first of two public hearings on the proposed electric rate increase. One customer was present to discuss his connection to the Douglas County Community Network.
The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. September 21, 2009 at the District’s East Wenatchee Headquarters office.
