Douglas PUD Commission Meeting Report

Douglas County PUD Commissioners Jim Davis, Lynn Heminger and Ron Skagen executed the following actions during the February 2, 2009 Commission meeting held at the East Wenatchee Headquarters office:

Authorized a call for bids under bid document 09-04-D, supply and install a one-man bucket unit with service body. The unit will be used for maintenance of the District’s distribution electrical and communication systems.  (09-20)

Approved acceptance of all work and final payment to Cascade Cable Constructors for the second year of contract 07-07-D, installation of underground primary cable and conduit.  All work under the contract has been completed and determined to meet the bid specifications. (09-21)

Authorized acceptance of materials received from Codale Electric Supply working under contract  08-28-D, 144 count fiber optic cable. All work under the contract has been completed and determined to meet the bid specifications. (09-22)

Awarded Taihan Electric Wire Co. of Floral Park NY, contract 08-52-D, 144 count fiber optic transmission cable. Taihan Electric Wire, with a bid price of $53,000, was the lowest responsive bidder. (09-23)

Approved acceptance and final payment to Wright’s Lawn Service working under contract 06-07-W 2006-2007 Grounds Maintenance.  All work under the contract has been completed and determined to meet the bid specifications. (09-24)

Approved acceptance and final payment to Carter Excavation working under contract 06-10-W 2006-2007, heavy equipment services for the Wells Hydroelectric Project.  All work under the contract has been completed and determined to meet the bid specifications. (09-25)

Approved acceptance of all work performed by Tunnel Hill Granite LLC for the first year of contract 07-39-W, 2008-09 heavy equipment services for the Wells Hydroelectric Project All work under the contract has been completed and determined to meet the bid specifications. (09-26)

Approved acceptance and final payment to KVA Electric, Inc. working under contract 08-47-W, moving and storing transformer insulating oil.  All work under the contract has been completed and determined to meet the bid specifications. (09-27)

Authorized change order No. 4 to contract 06-41-W, generator rebuild for unit refurbishment for the Wells Hydroelectric Project.  Changes include providing spare turbine runner hub bronze bushings and stainless steel wicket gate pins. This change order will increase the not to exceed limit $82,800 bringing the total not to exceed limit to $151,368,550. (09-28)

Approved change order No. 1 to contract 08-21-W, spare transformer relocation for Wells Hydroelectric Project with Bigge Crane and Rigging Co. This changes the method of payment terms from lump sum to progress payments. (09-29)

Approved purchase of certain real property associated with Wells Tracts 101 from Lloyd and Shirley Brown. The property is necessary for the operation and maintenance of the Wells Hydroelectric Project. (09-30)

Authorized funding the 2009 Pikeminnow Removal Program for the Wells Hydroelectric Project with Columbia Research of Chelan. This program has removed approximately 174,000 pikeminnow from the Wells Project area since 1998. The contract is not to exceed $130,000 for the 2009 pikeminnow removal program. (09-31)

Rescheduled the February 16, 2009 Commission Meeting to February 17, 2009 due to the forthcoming President’s Day Holiday. That meeting will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the East Wenatchee Headquarters Building.

Canceled the regular meeting scheduled for February 23, 2009 due to other Commissioner commitments.

The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. February 9, 2009 at the District’s Bridgeport office.
