Douglas PUD Commission Meeting Report

Douglas County PUD Commissioners Lynn Heminger, Ron Skagen and Jim Davis executed the following actions during the September 2, 2008 Commission meeting held at the East Wenatchee Headquarters office:

Authorized execution of a Quitclaim Deed to Douglas County. Necessary for obtaining Rapids Switchyard Conditional Use Permit, the District will deed a 10 foot right-of way along Rock Island Road and a 30 foot right-of-way along Douglas Street to Douglas County. (08-219)

Approved acceptance of all work performed by Asplundh Tree Expert Co. under the second year of contract 06-15-D, distribution tree trimming.  This will increase the cost of the contract $5,678, due to Asplundh’s union employee’s new contract with retro pay. All work under the contract has been completed and determined to meet the bid specifications.  (08-220)

Authorized amendment to Rate Schedule 6, Wholesale Communication Service, of the Electric Distribution System Customer Service Policies to meet the changing business needs of the District's Douglas County community Network. (08-221)

Authorized video transport agreements with television networks.  These agreements are required by most networks to receive and transport the signal over the Douglas County Community Network.  (08-222)

Approved the funding request of North Central Educational Service District (NCESD) in the amount of $23,318 for the 2008-2009 school year.  In effect since 1988, agreements between Douglas PUD and NCESD have been established to provide educational curriculum for every kindergarten through ninth grade student in Douglas County.  Classes pertain to electrical generation, electric distribution, conservation, safety and wise use of water resources. Authorized the retirement and disposal of several District printers. Due to environmental concerns, electronic equipment must be disposed of as hazardous waste material.  ABS Ricoh Business Systems provides a recycling service at no cost to the District. (08-224)

Approved acceptance and final payment to ABB Inc. working under contract 03-19-W, excitation system replacement Units One through Ten for the Wells Hydroelectric Project. All work under the contract has been completed and determined to meet the bid specifications.  (08-225)

Approved the acceptance of an engagement letter with KPMG LLP for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2008 audit of the Wells Hydroelectric Project.  KPMG LLP has provided Douglas PUD with consistent certified public accounting services. (08-226)

The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. September 8, 2008 at the District’s Bridgeport office.
