Douglas County PUD Commissioners Mike Doneen, Jim Davis and Lynn Heminger executed the following actions during the October 16, 2006 Commission meeting held at the East Wenatchee Headquarters building:
Commissioner Mike Doneen presented Chief Operator Dan Magee with his award for twenty years of service to the District. “Thank you for the good work that you do at Wells Dam for the Douglas County PUD,” said Commissioner Doneen. “It is because of people like you that Douglas PUD is able to provide reliable power to Douglas County citizens,” he added. Dan responded that he has enjoyed his time at the District and that it has been a good place to work. “I’d like to keep working here,” he said. Everyone in the room was pleased to hear that!
On the basis that it would diminish local control and fail to credit clean, renewable hydroelectric generation as part of a utility’s renewable resource portfolio, the Commission voted to establish an official position in opposition to Initiative 937, which would require utilities with greater than 25,000 customers to meet 15% of electric load with non-hydroelectric renewable generation resources by 2020 or within thirteen years of reaching 25,000 customers.
Authorized Advantica, Inc. of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania as a sole source for electric distribution system inspection and maintenance software.
Authorized a Subdivision Power Facilities Agreement for Skyview Ridge LLC Subdivision. This is a fifty lot subdivision on South Iowa Street in East Wenatchee.
Authorized a call for bids for six 115 kV substation breakers. Four of the breakers will be used in the new Pangborn Substation.
Authorized Advertisement for Professional Engineering services to assist the District with development of the 2007 Wells Project recreation action plan update.
The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. October 23, 2006 at the District’s East Wenatchee Headquarters building.
