Douglas PUD Commission Meeting Report

Douglas County PUD Commissioners Lynn Heminger, Mike Doneen and Jim Davis executed the following actions during the February 18, 2003 Commission meeting held at the East Wenatchee Headquarters building:

Opened bids to provide Douglas PUD with gantry crane refurbishment at the Wells Hydroelectric Project. Three bids were received for the contract with bid prices ranging from $1,190,867 to $1,927,552. The apparent low bid was received from Morris Material Handling from Kent. The District’s estimate was $1,200,000. All bids will be evaluated prior to award recommendation.

Approved a change order for the contract with Pacific Utility Equipment to supply Douglas PUD with an aerial manlift for a Distribution System bucket truck. The changes cover additional drawers with dividers and compartments. The cost of the additions is $4,153, raising the total contract cost from $64,099 to $68,252. (03-22)

Authorized a change order for the contract with Pacific Utility Equipment to supply Douglas PUD with a 47-foot sheave height hydraulic digger-derrick for a Distribution System line truck. The changes include a fully enclosed rack, additional drawers with dividers and compartments. The cost of the additions is $4,300, raising the total contract cost from $78,978 to $83,278. (03-23)

Awarded Cascade Cable Constructors, Inc. of Spokane a contract to provide Douglas PUD with the installation of underground primary cable. Cascade Cable Constructors, Inc., with a bid price of $519,900 was the lowest responsive bidder. (03-24)

Approved a call for bids to provide Douglas PUD with 193,000 feet of EPR underground primary cable. After evaluating methods to rebuild the existing overhead lines in the Waterville Plateau area or replacing them with underground lines using plowing installation techniques, it was decided that when possible overhead lines should be replaced with plowed underground primary cable to avoid problems that occur when frost accumulates on overhead lines. (03-25)

Approved the acceptance of all work performed by Bonneville Machine working under contract to refurbish one turbine guide bearing for the Wells Hydroelectric Project. All work under the contract has been completed and determined to meet the bid specifications. (03-26)
