Douglas County PUD Commissioners Lynn Heminger, Mike Doneen and Jim Davis executed the following actions during the March 18, 2002 Commission meeting held at the East Wenatchee Headquarters building:
Opened bids to provide Douglas PUD with ADSS fiber optic cable. There were six bids received for the contract with bid prices ranging from $56,100 to $87,620. The lowest bid was received from Brugg Cables LLC. of Rome, GA. The District’s estimate was $106,800. All bids will be evaluated prior to award recommendation.
Opened bids to provide Douglas PUD with tree trimming services. There was one bid received for the contract from Asplund Tree Trimming Experts of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania with a bid price of $230,820. The District’s estimate was $219,020. The bid will be evaluated prior to award recommendation.
Awarded WESCO of Portland the contract to provide Douglas PUD with underground primary cable. WESCO, with a bid price of $183,860, provided the lowest of two bids received.
Rejected the bids submitted to provide Douglas PUD with installation of single-phase underground primary cable. The six bids received for the contract exceeded the engineer’s estimate by more than the amount allowable under state law.
Authorized a call for bids to provide Douglas PUD with installation of single-phase underground primary cable. Douglas PUD has opted to install underground cable in the Waterville Plateau area rather than rebuilding the existing overhead lines. This type of work requires equipment Douglas PUD does not have. About 8 miles of overhead lines will be replaced to avoid winter weather damage.
Approved a real property purchase and sale agreement for 159 acres associated with possible wind generation development.
Awarded Industrial Battery Systems of Seattle the contract to replace Douglas PUD’s battery banks. Industrial Battery Systems, with a bid price of $99,219, was the only bidder.
Authorized an agreement with Chelan County PUD for use of an underwater Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) and crew. Douglas PUD has the need to perform underwater inspection at the Wells Hydroelectric project. For some operations renting the ROV from Chelan PUD is more cost effective than using a diving crew.
