Douglas County PUD Commissioners Lynn Heminger, Mike Doneen and Jim Davis executed the following actions during the November 13, 2001 Commission meeting held at the Bridgeport Office:
Authorized wind testing lease and option agreements with two property owners covering a total of 1,365 acres for annual payments totaling $3,199. Douglas PUD now has 129 wind testing lease and option agreements covering over 72,500 acres.
Approved the funding request of North Central Educational Service District, NCESD, in the amount of $42,720 for the 2001-2002 school year. In effect since 1988, agreements between Douglas PUD and NCESD have been established to provide educational curriculum for every kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth fifth and seventh grade student in Douglas County. Classes pertain to electrical generation, distribution, conservation, safety and water. In addition, a fifth and sixth grade curriculum includes some Douglas County history, geology and a tour of the Wells Hydroelectric Project.
Authorized a fish rearing agreement with Public Utility District No. 2 of Grant County. Grant County PUD will be conducting a PIT-tag survival study at Wanapum and Priest Rapids Dams during the spring of 2003. Douglas PUD will supply Grant County PUD with the 120,000 yearling hatchery summer Chinook necessary to conduct the study. The cost to Grant County PUD for 120,000 yearling hatchery summer Chinook, two months supply of off-station fish food and Professional Biological Services is $67,843.
Approved a lease agreement with Columbia River Fish Farms for the continued use of Douglas PUD’s net-pens. Douglas PUD does not have a use for the net-pens this production year. The one-year agreement calls for a payment of $150 per month.
