The following is a report of the Douglas County Public Utility District Commission meeting that was held on April 23, 2001.
The Commissioners opened bids for the sale of a 1978 Marlette doublewide mobile home that was previously declared surplus property. There was one bid received for the home. It was received from Shull’s Towing and Parts of Brewster and in the amount of $693. That bid will be evaluated by Douglas PUD staff prior to any recommendation.
Bids were opened by the Commissioners to provide Douglas PUD with a telephone system upgrade. Three bids for the contract were received with quotes running from $70,689.68 to $115,145.75 for upgrades to the East Wenatchee office. Prices to upgrade the Bridgeport office system ranged $31,834. to $38,924.25. Both current office systems are obsolete. All bids will be evaluated by Douglas PUD staff prior to recommendation for award.
The Commission accepted all work performed by Hale and Long, General Contractors, for repairs to the entry bridge to the East Wenatchee Headquarters Building. All work required under the contract has been completed, inspected, and determined to meet the specifications.
A call for bids to provide Douglas County PUD with a pikeminnow removal program for the Wells Hydroelectric Project during 2001 was approved by the Commission. Juvenile salmonids passing through Wells Dam are subject to attack by Northern Pikeminnow. A removal program saw record success during 1999 and 2000 and Douglas PUD staff has recommended a call for bids to provide a similar program during 2001. Calling for pikeminnow removal in the reservoir and tailrace of Wells Dam, the bounty program is not to exceed $100,000.
