The following is a report of the Douglas County Public Utility District Commission meeting that was held on August 21, 2000.
The Commissioners opened bids to provide Douglas PUD with ADSS fiber optic cable. Two bids were received for the backbone and distribution cable with prices of $2,008,160 and $2,346,880. The lowest bid was received from Communication Supply Corporation of Tukwila, Washington. With an estimate of $2,378.880, both bids will be evaluated prior to any recommendation for award.
The Commission also opened for bids for the purchase of surplus real property located within the Town of Withrow. There was one bid received for the lot and it was in the amount of $1,100.
A professional services agreement between Douglas County PUD and the Okanagan National Alliance was approved. Part of Douglas County PUD’s Long Term Fish Settlement Agreement is the requirement to mitigate the effects of the Wells Hydroelectric Project on Okanogan River sockeye salmon. Two projects were recommended for this purpose by the Okanagan Basin Technical Working Group - the body responsible for the Okanagan Watershed in Canada. These two proposals are directed to improve the riparian habitat and the winter water flows for fish in the Okanagan River. The not-to-exceed cost of these two projects is $67,780.
The Commissioners rescheduled the regular September 4th Commission meeting for Tuesday, September 5th at 2:00 p.m. in the East Wenatchee Headquarters due to the forthcoming Labor Day Holiday.
