The following is a report of the Douglas County Public Utility District Commission meeting that was held on July 10, 2000.
The Commissioners approved the funding for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Supplemental Budget for the Wells Wildlife Area for the 2000 – 2001 period. Since 1995, this voluntary Wells Special Fund has provided supplemental financing that helps maintain optimum management of the Wells Dam wildlife areas. This year’s budget is in the amount of $87,635.
A collaborative agreement between Douglas PUD and the Canadian Ministry of Fisheries and Oceans regarding Okanogan Sockeye Salmon was approved by the Commission. As part of the PUD’s Long Term Fisheries Settlement Agreement, this agreement will provide information to allow for the development of a spawning channel for the Okanogan Sockeye. It will also provide for other studies. The budget approved by the Commission for this work is in the amount of $36,905.
