The following is a report of the Douglas County Public Utility District Commission meeting that was held on April 4, 2000.
Bids were opened to provide Douglas County PUD with a new or used aerial manlift bucket-truck. Three bids were received for the vehicle that will replace the East Wenatchee service truck that is used primarily to maintain and install customer services, streetlights, and perform similar functions. Prices for new vehicles ran from $83,604 to $68,289 with used vehicle quotes of $65,756 and $58,642. Funds for the purchase of the truck have been included in the current budget. With estimates of $65,000 and $61,500 for new and used respectively, all bids will be evaluated by District staff prior to recommendation of award.
The Commission agreed to support the East Wenatchee Rotary Club’s 2000 Pikeminnow Fishing Derby in the amount of $3,000. The local service club has been conducting the fishing derby for several years and Douglas County PUD has been an annual supporter. Northern Pikeminnow are local fish known to be predators to the small migrating salmon and steelhead as they pass the Wells Hydroelectric Project. The fishing derby covers the Columbia River from Chief Joseph Dam to Rock Island Dam.
