The following is a report of the Douglas County Public Utility District Commission meeting that was held on January 24, 2000.
The Commissioners opened bids to supply Douglas PUD with excavating services for the Wells Hydroelectric Project for both 2000 and 2001. Four firms submitted bids with prices ranging from $181,205 to $242,060. The lowest bid was received from Carter Excavation of Brewster, Washington. With an estimate of $241,000, all bids will be evaluated by District staff prior to any recommendation for award.
The Commissioners also opened bids to provide Douglas PUD with grounds maintenance for all PUD properties for 2000 and 2001. Don Wright’s Lawn Service was the only firm to submit a bid for the work. The Wright’s bid was in the amount of $221,321.75. Estimated at a cost of $229,000, the Wright’s bid will be evaluated before District staff makes any recommendation for award.
Since 1988, the Energy Matchmaker Low Income Weatherization Program has been providing weatherization funds for all-electric homes of low-income Douglas County customers. It has been handled in joint participation between Douglas PUD and the Chelan/Douglas Community Action Council. The Commission approved Douglas PUDs support in the amount of $25,000 for the year 2000. These funds will be matched with another $25,000 from the State of Washington.
