The following is a report of the Douglas County Public Utility District Commission meeting, which was held on December 21, 1998.
A call for bids was issued on November 30 to provide increased office space and certain departmental changes. Today, the commissioners opened the bids received for the contract. Five firms presented bids with prices ranging from $65,556 to $78,000. The lowest bid was received from Whitebird Construction of Wenatchee. The work was estimate at $67,000. Staff personnel will evaluate all of the bids before making a recommendation for award to the commission.
Assistant Resource Planner Carol Berg was recognized on the occasion of her 20 years of service with the PUD. In presenting Berg with her award, Commission President Jim Davis thanked Berg for her many years of service to the customers of Douglas County. Davis said that he hoped she was looking forward to another 20 years. Berg responded, you bet.
The date of December 21, 1998 had been established at a prior commission meeting as the date for questions regarding LUD No. 1 of Douglas County for the Rio Vista Street Assessment Roll. There was no one at the meeting with questions regarding the assessment and no correspondence was received by mail. The Commission declared the matter closed and adopted the Roll for 1999 at $31.00 per lot. This is the same assessment amount since 1995.
Water has appeared at and above the eastern side of the East Wenatchee Headquarters parking lot eroding that wall at considerable expense over several years. The commissioners approved a call for bids to replace the existing rock wall with a block wall and drainage system.
Sound Elevator Company has held the contract for the maintenance of the 5 elevators located at the Wells Hydroelectric Project for some time. The commissioners agreed to extend that contract through the year 1999. There were no changes made to the terms and conditions of the agreement.
