The following is a report of the Douglas County Public Utility District Commission meeting which was held on August 17th.
Commission President Jim Davis presented 20-year service awards to Jonn DeWitt and Ray McGregor. DeWitt is a Power Dispatcher and McGregor is the Distribution Operations Superintendent. Both Jonn and Ray began their careers with Douglas PUD working as linemen. On behalf of the citizens of Douglas County, Commissioner Davis thanked both employees for their dedication to the PUD. You are some of the reasons the system works so well, Davis said. We appreciate your hard work and look forward to your future with Douglas PUD.
The Commissioners opened a single bid for removing asbestos from various locations throughout the District. AA Services, Inc. of Arlington, Washington provided that bid. It was $184,720 and the estimate for the work was $130,000. With such a difference, PUD staff will review the specifications in the contract to best determine the future course of action for removing the material.
McCandlish Electric, Inc. completed their work under a contract with the PUD to provide traffic control flagging for period ending June 30, 1998. All work was found to be satisfactory and PUD staff recommended payment of any remaining funds to the local contractor. The commission agreed and authorized the payment. McCandlish was paid a total of $99,940.
Morrill Asphalt Paving Co., Inc. had furnished crushed rock and bedding sand to Douglas PUD for a period that ended on July 1, 1998. All required materials had been delivered and found to be satisfactory. Staff recommended final payment to Morrill and the commission agreed. This contract amounted to $45,520.68.
The Commissioners reminded those in attendance that there would be no commission meeting on Monday, August 24, 1998 due to the lack of a quorum.
