The following is a report of the Douglas County Public Utility District Commission meeting which was held on July 20th.
During a routine maintenance inspection of Douglas County PUDs mobile substation, a red light indicated a failure with one of three interrupter units. This failure rendered the mobile substation unserviceable. Since the substation must be maintained in a ready condition to serve in emergencies, the commissioners declared the situation an emergency thereby waiving the normal bid law requirements. The failed interrupter unit is not interchangeable and can only be purchased from S C Electric. A single source purchase in the amount of $6,000.45 was approved to replace the failed interrupter unit.
