Douglas County PUD Commissioners Lynn Heminger, Ron Skagen and Jim Davis executed the following actions during the September 22, 2014 Commission meeting held at the District's East Wenatchee office:
Accepted a plaque of appreciation for support of the Andrew York Linemen Rodeo from Sarah DeLozier and Daryn Klinginsmith both of Chelan PUD.
Awarded Distribution Engineering Manager Jerry Kyle with his thirty- year service award. Commissioner Heminger thanked Jerry on behalf of the citizens of Douglas County for his years of service with style and humor. Jerry thanked the Commission and recounted the past thirty-years of great bosses, Commissioners, work assignments and training opportunities.
Authorized renewal of Information Security and Privacy Liability Insurance with Beazley to protect against cyber criminals. (14-114)
Approved renewal of Fiduciary Liability Insurance with AIG. (14-115)
Authorized the annual renewal for Directors and Officers and Employment Practices Liability Insurance with AIG. (14-116)
Approved extending comprehensive crime coverage with Zurich to October 15, 2017. (14-117)
Authorized legal proceeding against All That Jazz, LLC. A wildfire in northern Douglas County damaged or destroyed several miles of District power lines, poles and associated electrical equipment. The District sustained damages in the amount of $281,090.24. The Washington State Department of Natural Resources determined that the origin and cause of the fire was weed burning at an organic orchard owned by All That Jazz, LLC. (14-118)
Approved a call for bids under bid document 14-12-W, construct Carpenter Island Boat Launch as a part of the Wells Hydroelectric Project 2007 Recreation Action Plan. (14-119)
Authorized a call for bids under bid document 14-16-W, provide and install replacement pond covers for the juvenile rearing and adult holding ponds at the Methow Hatchery. (14-120)
Affirmed change order No. 1 to contract 14-07-W, furnish and install East Wenatchee Headquarters standby diesel generator. Changes include an additional disconnect breaker. This change increases the not to exceed cost $1,458, bringing the total not to exceed amount to $245,658. (14-121)
Affirmed change order No. 1 to contract 14-10-W, rehabilitation of the Intake Trash Racks at the Wells Hydroelectric Project. Changes include removal of retention plates welded to the center beam. This change increases the not to exceed cost $5,700 bringing the total not to exceed amount to $303,700. (14-122)
Approved an interlocal agreement for Fire Protection Services with Douglas County Fire District No. 4. In accordance with RCW 52.30.020, the agreement is for the protection and safety of personnel and property of the District. This agreement has an annual cost of $2,500 and is effective through December 31, 2020. (14-123)
Authorized acceptance of amended Grant of Franchise by Douglas County with regard to the Withrow Water System. Portions of the Withrow Water System are operated within Douglas County right-of-way under a County issued Grant of Franchise. The new term of the franchise is 25 years. (14-124)
