DCCN

The Douglas County Community Network (DCCN) is a high-speed, broadband network designed for Douglas County PUD’s electric needs. This network enables Douglas PUD to safely and effectively monitor and control its electric system. An added benefit to Douglas County residents is the growing availability of high-speed broadband service delivery.

DCCN is a packet-switched network using the Internet Protocol (IP) network standard. IP technology enables DCCN to use a variety of delivery methods including wired and wireless. Services provided on the DCCN include Internet, IP Phone and TV is coming soon.

DCCN has over 1,000 connections all around the county! The service area continues to grow. Please visit the DCCN website for more information and to see if you are in a serviceable area.

Summer Conservation

It doesn’t take money to save money on summertime energy bills. Here are some things you can do for free to slash your electric bill:

• Raise your thermostat by two degrees to reduce your cooling costs by up to five percent.
• Clean or change air conditioning filters regularly. Dirty filters cause air conditioners to work harder and use more energy.
• Remove dust from the coils of your refrigerator and freezer so they operate more efficiently.
• Close your blinds during the heat of the day and open your window during the cool evening to give your air conditioner a rest.
• Turn off heat producing lights and home computers when not in use.
• Fire up the barbecue grill to move cooking outdoors.
• Adjust your dishwasher so dishes dry without heat.
