Douglas County PUD Commissioners Lynn Heminger, Ron Skagen and Jim Davis executed the following actions during the September 22, 2008 Commission meeting held at the East Wenatchee Headquarters office:
Opened bids under bid document 08-41-D, construction of Rapids Switchyard. The apparent low bid was received from PAR Electrical Contractors, Inc. of Vacaville, CA. The bids will be evaluated prior to a recommendation for contract award.
Received the Premier’s Award for promoting innovation and excellence for the District’s Okanagan Basin Fish Water Management Tool. The award was presented by Dr. Kim Hyatt from Canada’s Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
Authorized acceptance of materials received from Platt Electric of Portland, OR, under contract 06-30-D, customer edge equipment. All work under the contract has been completed and determined to meet the bid specifications. (08-242)
Approved the District’s Accident Prevention Program. Washington Administrative Code requires the District to have a formal written Accident Prevention Program which is tailored to the needs of the workplace or operation and to the types of hazards involved. (08-243)
Authorized an agreement for professional services with Columbia Research for bird control at the Wells fish hatchery and Wells Dam. The purpose of this agreement is to protect salmon and steelhead from fish-eating birds. The cost of this agreement is not to exceed $60,000. (08-244)
Approved an agreement for professional services with Cascade Biological Supply for needed nuisance wildlife trapping services to protect salmon and steelhead reared at the District’s fish facilities and protection of trees on District lands. The cost of the agreement is not to exceed $9,500. (08-245)
Authorized a call for bids under bid document 08-46-W, headquarters building interiors 2008. (08-246)
Acting as the board of the Electric Utility Rural Economic Development Fund, awarded the following grants:
Badger Mountain Ski Hill Conversion from Gas to Electric $ 4,000.00

Do. Co. Fire Dist. 3 New tender 11,422.00

Do. Co. Hospital Dist. 2 Radio repeater 5,000.00
Total $ 50,000.00
Rescheduled the November 17, 2008 Commission Meeting to November 18, 2008 at 2:00 pm in the East Wenatchee Headquarters office.
The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. September 29, 2008 at the District’s East Wenatchee Headquarters office.
